CRACK A SUMMER SHANDY & START GRILLING: 1. Marinate the brats at least 12 hours before grilling. Add the bratwurst sausages, sliced onion and 12oz of beer to a large airtight container. Shake to combine and set in fridge for 12-24 hours. 2. Prep your grill, half direct high heat and half direct low heat. If using a gas grill, preheat at least 15 minutes before grilling. If using charcoal, light at least 30 minutes before grilling. 3. Boil the Summer Shandy brats with 12oz beer and onions from marinade. in a medium cast-iron skillet or heat-safe Dutch oven. Transfer to the grill on the low heat side & close grill. Bring the brats to a boil, boil for 10-12 minutes or until they're at 145 degrees F. Should take 20-25 minutes total, keep the grill lid closed as much as possible to not release heat! 4. Once boiled, carefully transfer the beer boiled brats directly to the grill on high heat side. Grill 2-3 minutes per side, until charred as desired and temperature reaches 160 degrees F. 5. Serve Summer Shandy beer brats on a bun with your favorite toppings like braised onions, sauerkraut and mustard! And of course... enjoy with a Leinie's Summer Shandy.
